Training and Education

Training

The PPFSSF has over the past 10 years worked towards the development of an educational seminar that could provide a cross section of the various needs of its members.

The dynamics of the members are diverse with member Funds specialising in different investment strategies and providing different benefits to their members. With such diversity the training and education requirements needs to be at a level that could be applied across all the different specialties and target the core fundamentals of investment and decision making processes. This set us apart from many standardised Funds in developed countries, and required the PPFSSF to look for a specialist to meet our training and educational needs.
In 2013, a relationship began with Teik Tan the Managing Director of I3 Solutions, who was running a highly specific range of seminars covering investment strategies, asset allocations, bonds, equities, and round table discussions. Teik has worked with the PPFSSF to understand the unique needs of the members and the challenging environments each faces.

I3 Solutions developed the Portfolio Masterclass specifically for the Pacific Funds, and held the first annual seminar in 2015 at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva, Fiji. The seminar, now in its 3rd year, continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of the PPFSSF members.

Education

The PPFSSF also recognised the need for its members to hold qualifications relevant to the industry, and with many countries without specific investment markets or industry, those qualifications were not readily available.

Rather than develop our own regional qualifications, the PPFSSF built a relationship with two Australian organisations that, amongst a number of services, specialised in providing education and qualifications for the industry. The education programs range from front line services through to executive and trustee qualifications.
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) and the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) both provide a collective discounted membership for PPFSSF members.
